Impact Hub Kathmandu has kicked off the Future-Ready TVET: Youth Engagement Survey, an assessment supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to understand how young people and their parents perceive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), skills development, and employment pathways in Nepal.

Using a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach, the assessment will explore young people’s aspirations, the barriers they face in accessing skills training, and their perceptions of TVET as a pathway to employment. It will engage diverse groups of young people, including those not in education, employment or training (NEET), young women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised communities, alongside parents and relevant stakeholders. The findings will help identify opportunities to make TVET more accessible and responsive to young people’s needs.

As part of the project’s initial engagement, the team held a meeting with representatives from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) and the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) to discuss the planned activities, coordination, and the way forward.

The assessment aims to generate evidence-based insights and practical recommendations to inform the design of the upcoming ADB-financed TVET project in Nepal. By bringing young people’s experiences and aspirations into the conversation, the study will contribute to discussions on improving TVET programme design, outreach, and relevant policy reforms, helping strengthen the connection between skills development and employment opportunities.
