Preparing for Deployment to Nepal

nepal_logo_sunWhile Communitere’s first responder, Paul Borrud, was in Nepal, he helped us assess the needs of the people who were affected by the recent earthquakes. The devastation is widespread: the current death toll has reached over 8,000, the number of injured has climbed to over 17,000 and more than 10% of the country’s homes were destroyed or damaged.

Communitere’s priority has been to identify long term solutions and assess the need for Communitere to deploy to Kathmandu to do what we do best: serve a community fractured by disaster by bridging the gaps in aid and creating an environment where resources can be shared. Our deployment plans are currently underway and experienced teams are at work managing logistics in San Francisco, Sydney and Manila. We have also identified new local and international partners on the ground in Kathmandu who will be an integral part of our deployment.

Communitere is currently receiving donations to facilitate our deployment. We are gratified at the fundraising response so far as the amount of funds raised will be a factor in determining the scope of our long term deployment. Please consider making a donation today. It’s easy, fast and is an incredibly meaningful way to make a difference in a place where so many people are experiencing such unimaginable need.

Communitere is also currently looking for a team of qualified, committed volunteers to help out with our response, no matter where they are based in the world. The need for help cannot be overstated. If you’d like to volunteer, please fill out our form and we’ll contact you with more information.
