Nepal Communitere is really excited to welcome two more members on our team! We’re thrilled as our hub and our team is growing bigger with new faces this year. Meet Bipin and Buddhiman!
Bipin is an eager maker with a passion for making, building and learning how things work. He recently joined our team in January 2021 when we were preparing our site for bringing in the Fab Lab Nepal equipment. Bipin has his master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering from IIT Bombay and graduated with mechanical engineering and honors in Automobile Engineering from VIT Pune. He has experience working with a team of engineers from design and development stage to actual testing of the transmission system projects during his academic years. Moreover, Bipin also brings his experience of handling operations and digital filing systems in tech companies with solid attention to detail which is a big benefit for the team as we build systems to launch and operate the FabLab Nepal at Nepal Communitere.
When I saw the vacancy for the Technical Associate position for the FIRST EVER Fab Lab Nepal, I was super excited to apply after knowing that it will house cool digital fabrication equipment and other tools- the sector that I’m always passionate about! I was inquisitive of how we can use the lab to serve as a collaborative and community-oriented venue for design, prototyping, product development, and invention. Having graduated in Mechanical Engineering and worked on design and manufacturing projects in India, I was thrilled about the opportunity to learn and actually use state-of-the-art digital fabrication equipment. I could not help but think about all the possibilities and opportunities the Fab Lab will offer to all the enthusiasts and makers from different fields here in Nepal. I am extremely excited to explore a plethora of possibilities, which is why I joined the Fab Lab Nepal team!
As a Technical Associate of FabLab Nepal, Bipin will be assisting FabLab staff and technical advisors from installation to operation of the lab, workshops and training. He will be supporting the team in installing the digital fabrication equipment, establish and operationalize Fab Lab systems and protocols, assist as well as conduct Fab Lab workshops on CAD software, digital design communication, and Human-Centered Design. He will also support FabLab users on the equipment and tools, product development from concept to prototype, and manufacturing strategies. Moreover, he will work with FabLab staff to manage day-to-day operations, document, record and archive Fab Lab program activities, products, and outcomes both physically and electronically.
The most exciting thing about working at Fab Lab Nepal for Bipin is the opportunity to collaborate with the Fab Lab team and its users to design and develop innovative solutions using cutting-edge fabrication equipment resources that we now have in Nepal. This opens doors to be creative and strive to solve real-life problems with the hope that the lab will be a pillar to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Nepal. Bipin is currently looking forward to installing digital fabrication equipment, testing, and fabricating some exciting products. He wishes to learn more about Human-Centered Design approaches and looks forward to working on collaborative projects to turn fascinating ideas into tangible products.
